The solution is never just one thing...
Updated: Sep 17, 2019
When I meet new people and they learn about what I do, I often get ask questions regarding nutritional advice.
The questions usually start by listing all the food that they eat (and don’t eat). They will state the calories consumed, HDL stats, water intake, exercise routine, supplements, diagnoses received, and on and on.
The inquiry will typically end with…
"I have 10 pounds to lose and I can’t seem to drop the weight."
"What am I doing wrong?"
"What dietary changes do I need to make?”
"I want my clothes to fit again."
I understand the frustration. I really do. I know how frustrating it can be when you feel like you're doing all the right things yet, you can’t seem to get the results you want.
The shift happened for me when I realized the difference between the collective black & white thinking vs considering all the different perspectives.
Stay with me, I will explain…
When it comes to health and eating, our minds want and seek the ONE solution that will change everything or the one thing we can blame for all of our issues such as...
"gluten gives me a headache"
"beans make me constipated"
"veggies make me gassy"
"night shades give me inflammation"
"meat gives me indigestion"
Or, you may focus on what you might be missing from your diet, for instance...
Vitamin C would make you feel better
Protein would provide you with more energy
Water would help you sleep better
Minerals will make your hair and nails healthier
Vitamin E will aid in clearing your skin
When I answer these questions, I know I’m not saying what they want to hear....The answers to your health and body issues are never just one thing! Diet is only one of the ingredients for the recipe to create a life and body you adore.
There is a part of me that wishes it were that easy. If it was, I could tell you the one adjustment to your diet & lifestyle you need to make and all of your body issues would be solved.
So what is the answer?
How do we switch from black & white thinking to see all possibilities?
The answer to losing those last 10 pounds usually has nothing to do with dietary changes or exercising more. It has everything to do with your emotional/ spiritual connection to your body. How you eat is how you do everything in life.
I get that this isn't the answer you are probably looking for.
To make lasting sustainable changes, you need to be willing to look at your entire lifestyle and journey within to connect with your inner wisdom and listen to the soft whisper of your soul. In other words… you need to learn the language of your spiritual and physical body.
This is the work I do… It’s an honor to coach clients and watch the transformation unfold with how they eat and live their lives.
